Thanks to the feedbacks received by some who left the comments in my blog, it appears that some have been approved already. Congratulations!
I made a call to an agency in Korea and they haven't heard anything from MOHW. It appears to me that MOHW is reviewing and approving the stacks of files one agency at a time. So if you haven't heard anything from your agency, just hang on. You will hear the good news soon.
My prediction is that by next week's end all the first batches of EPs will be approved. I am told that MOHW received all the EPs from January and February of 2012, and my guess is that by early April both March and April batches will be sumitted.
So if you have gotten the news that your EP has been approved, a hearty congratulations!
If you haven't heard the news, just hang on as they are still being approved.
I congratulate all of you ahead of time!

That is all really great news. And we have you to thank for all the updates. It really helps.
ReplyDeleteUnrelated; has anyone or any agency advised us on what to do with soon to be 2yr olds that have heard mostly or all Korean ? First off with taking them home on a plane vs having the child escorted-which is less traumatic? We travelled for our first child and found it very beneficial. But she was 10mos old. Now they can talk and walk.
Also we are very nervous for the first few months at home. And even more sad for the child that will be going thru all this. Wish it wasnt true. but this is today's reality.
THANKS again.
Not sure which is less traumatic BUT knowing at least some Korean and using it with them along with the English word afterwards is very comforting to the child. Our latest child came home at 13 months and knowing both languages helped to soothe him when he was very upset and scared until he learned the English words and meanings.
DeleteI adopted a 2 1/2 year old last May... Her adjustment was wonderful. We are hoping our 4 1/2 year old will be in the next batch.

DeleteThanks that is very reassuring. Appreciate it.
DeleteDid you travel ?
Did child speak some english,or u some Korean?
any other hints?
THANKS in Advance.
We knew a few words in Korean. She knew zero English. We did travel and loved it. We are traveling fr our 4 1/2 year old as well.
DeleteMy advice be flexible... Take small clothes.. She wore a 12 month at 2 1/2. Ask lots of questions to the foster mom. Take a carrier. We used a sling from Target, she loved and still loves it.
Our really only issue was the night we got her... She hated the hotel.. So we walked for hours.
The plane ride home was easy. She cried a little... But nothing crazy. Feel free to contact me.. Wendimelinda at gmail.com:)
Do we know how far they have made it thru? I still know of people with January 2011 referrals that still were not submitted in the first batch.
ReplyDeleteIt depends on which Korean agency (ESWS,SWS,HOLT). I know with Eastern (ESWS) they were able to get through families that had December 2010 ATKs and some January 2011 ATKs, but not all January 2011 families were able to be submitted. To my knowledge, ESWS has the biggest backlog of families with referrals waiting for EPs. Hopefully the rest of January 2011 families and some or most of February 2011 families will be in the second batch.
DeleteHolt has submitted march 2012 families
DeleteDo you mean march 2011 Holt/ESWS families?
DeleteI was not part of the first batch and my ATK is 1/18!
ReplyDeleteThis does not have anything to do with ATK date. He's saying January and February EPs (meaning 2 months of EPs) were submitted on March 5th, instead of just 1 month of EPs (which is the typical process). So, the next submission will also likely be 2 months worth of submissions and not just one (hence March and April).
DeleteSo it seems that ESWS families through part of January 2011 has had EPs submitted. Any word on how far SWS got?
ReplyDeleteSWS had only 20 families... My guess is they have approval and the news has y trickled down to the US agencies.
